ABOUT DJLILJOHNUSA
DJ LIL' JOHN (a.k.a. "LIL' JOHN COLEMAN") began his House music career in the late 80's, landing a part-time job at a local record store known as LOOP RECORDS. Within a four-year employ, he eventually earned the position of 12" buyer, BillBoard & S.I.N. reporter, and record pool director!! It was only a matter of time before he began producing his own music...
That opportunity came in 1992 when JEFF CRAVEN heard John playing several of his own unreleased tracks at a local club, and was offered a chance to jump-start a label with Jeff and his partner. Less than a year later, and after a couple of name changes for the label, LARGE MUSIC was formed, and the dj/producer "LIL JOHN COLEMAN" was launched into the world of House music!
From 1993 to 1998, over fifteen releases bored the name LIL' JOHN COLEMAN: "THE PINA COLADA E.P.", "RED DOG GROOVES E.P.", "PERHAPS", and the timeless classic "I'M LEAVIN' YOU" by saxophonist & crooner ULYSSES, all early Large Music releases - and ALL produced, arranged, written & mixed by "LIL' JOHN COLEMAN"!
Outside of the Large Music catalogue, remix projects were abundant for DJ LIL' JOHN: The Cover Girl's "If You Want My Love" (Epic); Kim English's "Supernatural" (Nervous); Keli Rich's "Hideaway" (E-Smoove's Focus label), to name a few. Even his remixed versions of Steve Poindexter's "Work That MuthaF**ka" and "Computer Madness" still seem to appear on various UK cd compilations to date...
These songs and remixes afforded him friendships all over the world, beginning with the legendary LOUIE VEGA, TONY HUMPHRIES, OSCAR G & RALPH FALCON (aka MURK), DELI G, MOUSSE T, KERRI CHANDLER, ROGER S., and just about every dj/producer atop of their game in the 90's...
