This is the one of the fyrst soulful deephouse mixes I made 6 years ago. Before this time I had been playing techno and drum&bass music.
Something changed in my life when I saw Larry Heard and Brett Dancer play in iceland 2003. I fell in love with deephouse music and soulful house.
It was a huge step for me. And people critized me alot.
This time I was going to play music that I loved. Music I could feel. Whatever people said. I was done pleasing people. I sent this demo mix, in 2004 to clubs in iceland, and didn´t get any gigs. But I keept on buying vinyl, paying alot to ship them to iceland only to be played in my bedroom. I got gigs playing at bars and coffee shops at wednesdays and thursdays eventually. A year later I teamed up with another icelandic dj and a bongo player. We played few times a year. Groovebox. The fyrst nights started with very few people but later we got good growd. In 2007 and 2008 I was playing almost every weekend in clubs/bars in iceland and few times in London. Now the house scene is dead in iceland. And if I play anywhere I can´t play soulful house.
But I´ve been there before and I´m not quitting.
