Eish with these mixes its really hard to buy compilations bcos when ds songs are compiled, we knew them already and thanks to you..One friend of mine said he last bought house CD's last year Dec cos its not neccessary. I only buy home brewed recently to support local producers.

Unfortunately went to Musica today and House Afrika Sessions Vol.1 CD is sold out and hv to wait until nxt week but i managed to buy Blackcoffee CD.

Excuses Excuses... I buy single tracks on Mp3 yet I still support my fellow djs when they release compilations and I do listen to their compilations.

This medium is another promotional tool for Djs and it also promotes the work of the various producers who feature on these mixes. If the intention is to support just do it. Go out there and buy the music.

Hey Linda, we listen to sooooo much music (mixes) on the net. Sometimes we see a track on your tracklisting, download a mix, listen to the track on the mix, then buy it mp3. So if it appears on the compilation-It won't be necessary to buy the compilation.

The most frustrating thing for us fans and for djs who release compilations is the availability of the albums in stores. The way we get the music off the net, the time we got money, we hit the stores and find out they are not there or sold out. Musica is the biggest culprit. They like sending only 100 copies per store, they get sold out, then you have to wait for 3weeks. We dont have patience and end up getting the mp3 through digital downloads or from djs themselves.

The way forward is digital downloads. For those with no internet, the marketing strategy is gigs and making sure you sell your copies from gigs just like Kalawa. Albums dont just sell themselves without you djs doing the hardwork.

Also, the core focus is on promoting your own music. Check out Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Boddih Satva & Aero Manyelo. 90% of their sets is pushing their own music.

I help by being and Mc by letting people know the songs and where to buy them. In order to make money, we need to incorporate new school and old school marketing and selling ideas.

It's sad to see djs loving what they do, but yet not make money out of it. The secret is hardwork and doing something diferrent.

Everybody with headphones, copied cds, think is a dj. So differentiate yourself, be humble, produce, work hard, network. Work hard,hard,hard..

i am real fun of deep house but i only feel bad that most tracks by south african djs are never found on most dance/house websites on the net. i say so because the net is the biggest market for music.big dj names are not found only intenational names..so SA djs upload your compilations on net like others do..
